Maslach and leiter postulated that burnout occurs when there is a disconnection between the organization and the individual with regard to what they called the six areas of work life: workload, control, reward, community, fairness, and values.. Maslach burnout inventory the best-studied clinical instrument for assessing job and emotional “burnout”, designed by maslach and jackson in the 1970s, which hinges on a three-dimensional description of exhaustion, cynicism and inefficacy; some workers believe exhaustion is the only factor of interest.. Maslach and her colleagues developed a method for assessing burnout as a multidimensional construct that went beyond mere exhaustion (maslach and jackson, 1981; maslach et al., 2008)..
