Contacts are saved but since the ios 9 update, when i get a text message, no name appears only the telephone number in the notification screen? but i open the text, the name appears at the top, just when initial text notification comes through.. I’ve been sitting for about an hour, turning my iphone on and off, checking all my settings, and reading through online posts trying to figure out how to get my contact names to show instead of phone numbers in messages on my iphone se.. This "problem" isn't ios 5 specific to the iphone - my employees experienced it on ios 3.x and 4.x too. if you're on a gsm-based provider, check settings>general>about - any carrier update would appear here..

Ios message notifications: contact names missing january 20, 2016 by serhat kurt 32 comments some users have stated that text message notifications show the phone number rather than the contact name after updating to ios 9.. From the lock screen, firmly press the notification that you want to reply to. type your message. tap to send.; if you have an iphone x or later and can't reply to a message from the lock screen, go to settings > face id & passcode, and turn on reply with message.. This tutorial is going to change the notification settings on your iphone so that only the contact name or the phone number (if the sender of the message is not a contact) will be displayed on your lock screen when you receive a text message..
